Three Blocks of Streetcar Tracks - Abandoned by Pittsburgh Railways Company 1957 October 5
(Photographs taken in July and August of 2023)
Chestnut Street is, and always has been, a major gateway to the Pittsburgh neighborhoods of Spring Hill and Spring Garden. This is the reason the Spring Garden (Route 1) and Spring Hill (Route 5) streetcar lines used Chestnut Street to access the two neighborhoods. Today, bus routes 6 Spring Hill and 7 Spring Garden continue to use this section of Chestnut Street.
