Carnegie, Pa., Dec. 24 - A Writers' Workshop for beginning writers will be held, January 10 to February 28, at the Andrew Carnegie Free Library, 300 Beechwood Avenue in Carnegie Borough. Each hour and a half session, scheduled on Saturday mornings, will help beginning writers develop story ideas and craft these ideas into a short story.
Workshop size is limited. Each Saturday morning session will run from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 Noon. Registration will be taken by telephone: (412) 276-8550. The total cost, for all eight sessions, is $50, payable in cash or by check made-out to the "Andrew Carnegie Free Library."
In the Workshop, students will be asked to write two short stories, and to read and discuss the stories written by others. Aspiring writers, who have already started stories, will be encouraged to bring story drafts to class. Stories written will be critiqued, and suggestions for improvement will be given.
The instructor for this eight-week workshop will be Mary Hof. Ms. Hof has an MFA in fiction writing from the University of Pittsburgh.
