2004
April 2
Mr. John
A. Brooks, Chairman, Board of Directors
Port
Authority of
Heinz 57
Center
345
RE:
Dear Mr.
Brooks:
Under the
terms of the
< http://www.portauthority.org/grow/pgboardPolicy.asp
>], I hereby
request that I be scheduled to speak to the Port Authority Board at the Board
meeting scheduled to be held on 2004 April 23 at 9: 30 a.m.
I will be
representing myself, and my own opinions, during this presentation. No one will
accompany me to this presentation. My addresses and telephone number are
located at the beginning of this letter.
The issue
I intend to address at this meeting will be the proposed abandonment of the
seven-track [i.e. five stub tracks, and a loop track originally designed for
PCC cars which can now be used as two additional storage tracks] Mid-Day Rail
Car Storage Yard, for the storage of Light Rail Vehicles at Penn Station in
Downtown Pittsburgh. According to Port Authority Director of Operations,
Stephen R. Banta, the construction of the proposed Convention Center Subway
Line will necessitate the complete abandonment of the Penn Station Rail Line,
where the Mid-Day Rail Storage Yard is located.
I
understand that this request must be received by you at least two weeks prior
to the Board meeting, when I request to speak. This letter will be mailed on
April 2 or 3, for arrival in your office on April 5, which should satisfy this
requirement.
I
understand that I will be provided up to ten minutes for my presentation before
the Board of Directors of the Port Authority of Allegheny County.
Sincerely
yours,
Glenn A.
Walsh
