ABRAHAM LINCOLN ARTIFACTS:

SEMI-PERMANENT LOAN

                        NOT

OWNERSHIP TRANSFER

To Members of the Council of the County of Allegheny:

I learned of the proposed passage of Council Bill 3421-07 only this morning, too late to request to speak during the Public Comments segment of tonight’s Council meeting. Please consider this written statement as my public comment regarding Council Bill 3421-07.

I urge Council members to consider amending this legislation to allow for SEMI-PERMANENT LOAN of the historic artifacts related to Abraham Lincoln’s visit to Pittsburgh. This would serve the interests of proper conservation of these historic artifacts, while maintaining public ownership of these historic treasures.

Whether these artifacts are loaned, to the Senator John Heinz History Center or to the Soldiers and Sailors Military Museum and Memorial, it is most important that the public’s interests in these artifacts be maintained with continued ownership by the County of Allegheny.

Thank you.
